I think the series artwork was my best. I would not redo any of the artworks I did as I prefer to create something new. Something I learned in this class is being able to multitask and I learned this because we were given a lot of assignments at once so if a project was in the kiln then you could work on another. I would of liked to have more freedom to create what I wanted because I wanted to just try playing around with the clay without worrying about a deadline or if it would fit the theme.

My series are imaginary insects. I wanted to do this because I love fantasy creatures, and insects intrest me. They were all made by playing around with clay until I came up with a design I liked. I was hoping to make some creatures that are interesting to look at, and in my opinion, I think I succeeded. I think this project was probably my most successful as it was the one I enjoyed making the most.
I made a ball trapped by an imperfect claw. I made the ball using two pinch pots and I made the claw by just forming it. This artwork is meant to express the feeling of being trapped or feeling less than someone else because you only see the perfect side of them. The ball is a dull blue while, from the balls perspective, the claw is a better and lighter blue. My goals for this artwork was to make a nice looking claw and ball which is a goal I personally don't think I succeeded in. I don't think this artwork turned out as well as I would of liked. I was inspired by PJ Anderson's Clawform 1.
I made a couple of slab which I layered colorburst glaze and black glaze on to see how it would turn out. I didn't have the time to make a finished peace, but it would likely be a plate with the layered color burst on the outer edge and a pure black in the middle with the purpose of holding stuff. I do think a couple of the slabs turned out nice and I would definitely try more combinations given the time.
I made a relief tile that tries to show an underwater scene with two small and colorful fish. I used envision to try to picture what underwater scene I wanted to create and ended on this. I used develop craft as I worked more with clay and learned of a more rough technique to make the seaweed.
I originally made the coil vessel smaller, but I ended up having to make it bigger which led to a different look then what I intended. I used Alligator and Mosaic Blue as my glazes. I used Develop Craft as I used coil vessel for the first time. I used observe by noticing that the Alligator glaze over the Mosaic Blue glaze makes something that looks really neat.
This slab box was made to look like a cookie monster jar but combined with a lizard. I used engage and persist to try and make something even though I forgot to use the texture roller and I ended up with something I liked a lot more. I used develop craft as I got better at making and attaching slab.
My sphere started out with using two pinch pots to make a sphere and then using slab to create the "wings". I used a wooden tool to make the lines in it. It was glazed with dandelion and shiny black. I used develop craft as I used slab for the first time as well as using slip. I used engage and persist in order to keep the orb in some form after it broke.
These pinch pots are made to be put in a terrarium. I used envision to think of what I would need in a terrarium. At the end I used reflect to know that next time I need more glaze. I used Blue Gray and Shiny Black as the glazes on my pots.
I made the texture roller with pvc pipe and hot glue. I used develop craft as it was my first time using hot glue creatively. Engage and persist was used when I kept messing up because of the hot glue being hard to be precise with.
